playful film ever by director James Ivory and producer Ismail Merchant.
HOLLYWOOD REPORTER |
|
"A glossy, articulate and tasteful soap opera that will be catnip for
Merchant/Ivory fans."
Daniel Eagan, FILM JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL

simply exquisite, compelling film; your eyes never stray
from the screen"

funny romance mocks and appreciates French and American
culture so
beautifully that I had to buy some Gauloises and a Diet

"it
teems with the lively offhand specificity of a great
read.
To be honest, and to risk sounding like a hack, I never
wanted it to end."

call "Action!" on a party scene until the bells
from a neighboring church had stopped ringing.
